Life with small, incredibly cute lunatics

How to lose weight...

Horsesandshow 031

Become a Horse Show Mom and be forced to compete for your nutritional sustenance (if you can call a hamburger such a thing) with an extremely stubborn pony who is apparently happy to throw vegetarianism to the wind when given the opportunity.

Plus you get to stress away the pounds watching your little baby girl (who I swear was just a toddler two days ago) doing things like this...

Horsesandshow 033

Please note the expression of extreme determination on her little face.  It's going to be a long summer...

And the Pulitzer goes to...

First, in the poetry category...

If cats ate cold pizza and drank hot coffee.

If cats ate cold pizza and drank hot coffee,

They would also drive SUVs.

The price of clay would be through the roof. Gas, too.

They would shop at Target and drive a third world market for fuzzy toys on suction-cupped plastic rods

Made by kittens.

They would plow up fields to build acres of kitty condos

(each three stories high and carpeted on the outside).

The world would be their litterbox.

So this answers the burning question about what the Absent-Minded Professor does while waiting to give lectures at Continuing Ed meetings.

Also in contention for this year's Pulitzer Prize... in the non-fiction category... is this little work in progress whose title caught my eye on our computer's Word file directory....

Beware, all mothers of fourth grade boys, there apparently is a manual in the works...

Viewer discretion is advised...

Caution...the following are graphic crime scene photos...

Dscn3622_edited_2

You may recognize the victim as the lovely, little Victorian teacup that had recently graced many a yarn-in-progress photo.  It was an up and coming teacup that had a promising career ahead of itself.  A Christmas gift and honor student, the teacup worked hard holding all my little beads...many of which are now wedged between the floor boards...

Dscn3625_edited

(Please ignore the dust and the dog hair that I don't dare remove... they may actually be holding the floor up.)

In the right place at the wrong time, the teacup fell victim to a known trouble maker...

Dscn3623_edited

who has been brought up on many such charges in the past.

The weapon... a deadly stuffed horse.  (Although highly illegal, they can be easily obtained from your sister's bed).

This incident is just another illustration of the growing crime rate in our area.  Starting 9 years, 5 months and 11days ago (but who is counting, really) many have fallen victim to not only this perp (he is relativly new on the scene)  but also his two accomplices.

In memorandum, here is a list of the fallen.  Please remember that due to the incredibly long list of victims...some may have been unwittingly omitted...or cut due to space.

1. Any and all house plants...either felled by flying objects, running toddlers with no sense of direction or complete neglect due to other overwhelming obligations like nursing...still counts as their fault.

2. Any sense of Feug Shui this house may have had.

3. Most of my antique cup and saucer collection started during the brief care-free period between school and marriage.

4. Most of all the old crap my husband bought at auction during the very long, care-free period between school and marriage.

5. Romantic dinners for two.

6. The dog-child status once bestowed upon our pets...lucky for them.

7. Anything resembling my own sanity.

This post is dedicated to the memory of Teacup (circa 1900-Feb 2007).

He may think he is just amusing himself...but I see a job beading plying thread in his future.

Oh, don't think I haven't gone there too!

It must be all that Wii baseball...

This is the view I get to admire while doing the dishes.  A nice big hefty chunk of our muddy, gravel drive, the corner of the hay barn, and a lovely, big tree.   Stunning, I know.  It has now been further enhanced, as you can see,  by a nine year old with a powerful arm...

...and extremely poor aim.

Shhh...

We have the good fortune to have spotted the highly elusive and extremely elderly, Felis grumpicatticus.  Mostly known for their horrible breath, they have the uncanny ability to leave a trail of cat litter where ever they go.  This particular genus is most commonly found absorbing all the heat from a floor vent, there by effectively freezing out competition from other species.  Living on a diet of dog-slobbered kitty kibble, they are often caught drinking from leaky bathroom faucets.  Felis grumpicattici tend to range throughout the homes of people, who, when faced with a homeless pet... just cannot say no.

If you can be very quiet we can sneak in closer...

Dscn3421_edited

This particular species is well known for is amazing ability to stand it's ground in the face of any potential removal from a warm napping spot.  In fact, if you wish to effectively and consistently dislodge one of these creatures, I'm afraid you will need one of these...

Toddlerofus rambuncticus.  But they come with many issues of their own...
